Terms of Service

Last updated: July 3, 2026

This document is a draft reflecting the commitments of the Fabberworks MVP scope and is not final, binding legal text. It will be reviewed by legal counsel before launch.

By using Fabberworks, you agree to the following terms. Fabberworks is a dual-sided manufacturing platform that connects Customers with independent makers (Creators).

1. Accounts and Roles

Every new account is created as a Customer. You must verify your email address before you can place orders, accept quotes, or send messages.

Customers can upgrade to the Creator role by completing their profile and passing verification. This upgrade is applied to your existing account; no separate signup is required.

2. Orders, Quotes, and Payment

Customers create a request for quote (RFQ) by uploading a design and selecting a process and specification; the system ranks Creators who offer that service.

Payments are held in escrow and released to the Creator only when you confirm receipt of the order.

Fabberworks charges a commission on each completed order, collected from the Creator. The commission rate is disclosed transparently before ordering.

3. Intellectual Property and Confidentiality Clause

The Customer retains all intellectual property rights to all uploaded designs.

Creators agree to treat designs as confidential information: no retention, redistribution, reverse-engineering, or commercialization outside the scope of the awarded order.

Violation of these obligations is grounds for immediate account suspension or termination, plus legal action where damages warrant.

4. No Off-Platform Circumvention

Payment and communication must be conducted through the platform. If a message is detected to contain phone numbers, emails, or references to external messaging apps, the relevant content is automatically redacted.

Repeated violations may lead to account review and temporary suspension. This rule protects the platform fee structure, escrow protections, and dispute resolution.

5. Acceptable Use

You may upload only whitelisted design files such as STL, STEP, DXF, and Gerber; executables, archives, and unrelated formats are rejected.

Reasonable rate limits apply to request submissions for new accounts (to prevent abuse).

Harassment, abuse, and illegal content are prohibited; "Report" and "Block" options are available on every message and at the conversation level.

6. Limitation of Liability

Fabberworks is an intermediary platform; manufacturing is performed by independent Creators. The quality, delivery times, and suitability of produced parts are the responsibility of the relevant Creator.

Fabberworks does not support mass-production or use cases requiring formal certification (FDA, CE Medical, aerospace AS9100, etc.).
